A LO300 To Remember Print E-mail

By Tuesday evening all the boats participating in this year’s race were either finished or accounted for.
The conditions had been challenging, with gale force winds at the start, accompanied by T-storms, complete with hail, followed by calms for the return along the south shore. The winds finally picked up from the south to bring the last yachts home.

Line honours went to Sansei, a Tartan 4100 from QCYC, finishing the Scotch Bonnet White Sail PHRF-1, just before 4:00am on Monday morning.
Within the next 15 seconds, Southern Cross V, a Sabre 402 from RCYC, finished the Scotch Bonnet Double Handed PHRF.
Congratulations to both!

The results on the PCYC website appears to merge a number of starts into one division so Balance, listed as #17, may actually be 3rd.

Anyway, here is my interpretation…
Out of 7 EYC boats initially registered, 4 started and 3 finished (MCC had 5 starting and 4 finishing).
• Les took a 1st in her division (DH/Spin/2) with 12 of 14 boats finishing (tough crowd).
• Balance took a 3rd in her division (FC/Spin/5) with 7 of 10 boats finishing
• Three Cheers took a 5th in her multihull division with 5 of 12 boats finishing
• Alchemist (C&C29) retired but her team mate, Sierra Tango, from LSYC, finished 3rd.

By the way, some yachts got into sufficient difficulties to require assistance and the following vessels answered the call and were subsequently awarded redress for helping other yachts in distress:

  • Southern Cross had 65 minutes deducted from their elapsed time
  • Proclivity had 100 minutes deducted from their elapsed time
  • Cesan had 45 minutes deducted from their elapsed time
  • Pagan had 95 minutes deducted from their elapsed
