Offshore racing is definitely gaining popularity in Canada.

Over the next few weeks, we will see the start for the Route Halifax St-Pierre Ocean Race (http://www.routehalifaxsaintpierre.com/) on July 10th. 37 have already signed up, including Derek Hatfield in the ECO60 Spirit of Canada, to meet the challenges of the northeastern Atlantic ocean.

On the west coast, the Victoria to Maui International Yacht Race (http://www.vicmaui.org/) is set to go on July 1st. The event will take racers over approximately 3200 miles from Vancouver Island to Maui Island, Hawaii.
